Warmth in every detail
The moment we arrived, the staff greeted us with a bottle of sweet wine and a personal note. Each day brought delicious surprises, truly making us feel special.
The only downside was that I wished for more interactive dining options during our stay. We missed out on a few local culinary experiences due to time constraints.

The Deluxe Hollywood Twin Room with Tea Ceremony features a tranquil ambiance enhanced by traditional Japanese decor, incredibly comfortable bedding, and direct access to a serene private garden. Enjoying the tea ceremony right in the room was a unique cultural experience that added charm to the stay.
The bathroom toiletries felt inadequate for two guests, lacking the premium touch expected given the price point. Additionally, I noticed dust and dirt on several storage shelves, which took away from the overall pristine feel. A cold draft came from the windows, making comfort an issue during the chilly nights.

Sowaka beautifully blends traditional Japanese aesthetics with modern comforts. The calm ambiance and charming design, featuring wooden corridors and serene garden views, made it an easy and delightful place for us seniors to navigate and enjoy.
More accessible seating in common areas would be great.

Sowaka left a strong impression on me. The tranquility of the atmosphere felt like a breath of fresh air. The design of the hotel is stunning, blending traditional aesthetics with modern comfort. My room had a direct view of the serene garden, creating a peaceful retreat. The staff showed remarkable attentiveness and friendliness throughout my stay. They were always eager to assist with reservations and local recommendations. However, I encountered some accessibility issues with the common seating areas. More comfortable seating options would enhance the experience, especially for older guests. Overall, the dining experience was excellent. I enjoyed both the Japanese and Western breakfast options, each one delicious and fulfilling. The ambiance during breakfast was delightful, too. If I return, I would consider a different room that offers easier access. I truly enjoyed my time here and would recommend it to anyone seeking a lovely retreat in Kyoto.

Exceptional traditional hotel experience with stunning garden views. The staff's eagerness to assist made every dining reservation effortless, and the tasting dinner menu was a culinary highlight. The serene atmosphere offered a perfect retreat, perfect for unwinding. However, common areas lacked accessible seating options, and I found breakfast service a bit delayed during busy hours, which affected the overall experience slightly.

This place had such a cozy vibe, and I absolutely loved having direct access to the serene garden right from my room. I spent relaxing moments enjoying the soothing tea ceremony and the calming spa treatments. The only issue was that the bar was a bit small, but it didn’t take away from my wonderful stay. 😊
